Dr Anjan Ghosh (1951-2010) was a public intellectual, activist, and teacher of the social sciences. He held several teaching positions and was Professor, Centre for Studies in Social Sciences, Calcutta. He registered for a Ph.D course in Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi, on the coal mine workers of Dhanbad district in Jharkhand.
In 2006, Anjan Ghosh was interviewed on the coal mine workers of Jharia in Dhanbad for the documentary film series made that year titled “Hot As Hell: A Profile of Dhanbad” co-produced and directed by Paranjoy Guha Thakurta and financially supported by the Public Service Broadcasting Trust.
