As far as the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the voter roll in West Bengal is concerned, the Trinamool Congress government led by Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee was prepared for the worst. She will now appear as an aggrieved victim and the Bharatiya Janata Party will not be able to capitalise on the anti-incumbency sentiments prevailing against her 15-year-old government. All institutions of governance, be these the Election Commission of India, the Union government, the state government and regretfully, even the Supreme Court of India, have failed the people of West Bengal. These are the views expressed by Sayantan Ghosh, teacher, journalist and author of the book “Battleground Bengal” in an interview with Paranjoy Guha Thakurta.
