Acknowledging that have been several limitations in the way the Trinamool Congress government has administered West Bengal over the last ten years, Saugata Roy, Member of the Lok Sabha from Dum Dum – and former Union Minister of State for Urban Development in the Manmohan Singh government between 2009 and 2012 – says the Bharatiya Janata Party will not be able to come to power in the state although it would certainly increase the number of seats it holds in the state legislative assembly. The 73-year-old MP does not rule out a post-poll alliance with his party’s political opponents in the Congress and the Left, in this exclusive interview with Dipanjan Sinha and Paranjoy Guha Thakurta.
