Acting at the behest of the Bharatiya Janata Party, the Election Commission of India is trying to manipulate voting processes in the run-up to the election to the West Bengal legislative assembly that will be held in two phases, on 23 April and on 29 April 2026. The BJP is also trying to polarize voters in the state along religious lines but it will not be successful. These moves must be resisted by those who believe in the values enshrined in the Constitution of india, says Prasenjit Bose, economist and member of the Indian National Congress who was earlier with the Communist Party of India - Marxist, in an exclusive interview with Paranjoy Guha Thakurta.
